Part-Time Bookkeeper (HOA/Property Management)

 

Sunshai Community Management | Remote (Minnesota-based HOAs)
Hours: 10–20 hours/week (with growth potential)
Type: Part-time (W2 or 1099—based on fit and preference)

Schedule: Flexible within required deadlines


About Sunshai Community Management
Sunshai Community Management is a boutique HOA management firm built on transparency, organization, and community-focused service. We are seeking a detail-driven Part-Time Bookkeeper to support HOA and company financial operations as our portfolio grows.


What You’ll Do

  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations (operating, reserve, and special assessment accounts)
     
  • Post and reconcile homeowner payments, assessments, and special assessments
     
  • Maintain accurate general ledger coding aligned with HOA budgets
     
  • Assist with accounts payable processing and vendor invoice tracking
     
  • Prepare monthly financial package support (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, General Ledger)
     
  • Support month-end close, year-end readiness, and documentation requests
     
  • Communicate clearly with leadership regarding discrepancies, timelines, and approvals
     

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience (HOA/property management preferred)
     
  • Strong reconciliation skills and understanding of accrual accounting
     
  • High attention to detail, consistency, and confidentiality
     
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and follow documented processes
     
  • Strong communication and organizational habits
     

Nice-to-Haves

  • HOA accounting experience (best-in-class fit)
     
  • Experience handling reserves and special assessment accounting
     
  • Comfortable working within property management systems and online banking portals
